Gianfranco Zola, born in Oliena, Sardinia, on 5 July 1966, is a former Italian footballer and coach, unanimously recognized as one of the greatest strikers of all time. Zola began his football career with Nuorese, a local Sardinian team, before moving to Serie A with Napoli in 1989.
In 1993 he moved to English Premier League club Chelsea for a then-record fee of £4.5 million.
He quickly became a legend among Blues fans, known for his exceptional dribbling skills, pinpoint passing and long-range shots.
He led Chelsea to the FA Cup in 1997, the club's first major trophy for 50 years, and also won the League Cup in 1998.
After retiring from football in 2000, Zola embarked on a coaching career.
