Andriy Shevchenko is a Ukrainian former footballer and current manager, born on 29 September 1976 in Dvirkivschyna, in the then Soviet Union (now Ukraine). During his playing career, Shevchenko was known as one of the best strikers in the world.
Shevchenko began his professional career at Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine and quickly attracted international attention with his impressive performances. In 1999, he was transferred to Milan in Italy, where he enjoyed the most significant period of his career. With Milan, he won several trophies, including Serie A, Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League in 2003.
Shevchenko was also a prolific striker for the Ukrainian national team, representing them in several international competitions, including the UEFA European Championships and FIFA World Cups. He is the all-time leading goalscorer for the Ukrainian national team.
After his time at Milan, Shevchenko also played for Chelsea in England, before returning to Dynamo Kyiv and subsequently ending his playing career.
