Faced with Jan Saudek's photographs, attitudes can vary: one can appreciate the provocative audacity with which he proposes a nude that is never banal, or be bewildered by postures that do not exclude ruthlessness, linger over the sinuosity of women's bodies or grieve at the way they are so cruelly exhibited. But on one thing one cannot disagree: the refined originality with which the Prague photographer treats his prints, colouring them with manual interventions that embellish them, making them unique.
