The eccentric German baron Wilhelm von Gloeden, who had moved to Taormina, reveals in his photographs not only the taste for classicism but also a refined culture. His famous 'Caino' is, in fact, a homage to Hyppolite Flandrin's painting made in 1836 and exhibited in the Louvre.
