Straight, double-edged blade (small areas with pitting), at the base with clearly visible markings "RD","RF." in a shield surmounted by crown and date "1864". Solid hilt with quillon and grip consisting of a single brass piece with remains of a mark. Earlier leather scabbard with brass hilt. Calamandrei presents in 'Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana' (Ed. Olimpia, 1999) a very similar model (p. 54, with photo): with a straight-edged blade of later production.
