length 117,5 cm.
Smoothbore, round, 20 gauge barrels, provided with rib marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" and "WINNERS OF ALL THE 'FIELD' RIFLE TRIALS 1883", also provided with silver foresight. Breeches with engraved frame. On the underside, various marks, such as the mark of the London test bench, "20", "H.H", serial numbers etc. Beautiful browning with damascus design finishing (later?). Receiver with engraved frame, marks of the London test bench and numbers. Browning back key. Locks and lock plates engraved en suite and with cartouches bordered with racemes featuring the inscription "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". Retains part of the probably antique casehardening finishing. Slender, wooden butt with fine checkering at the shoulder. Checkered fore-end with browned cross. Thick, ebony butt plate. Silver-plated metal disc in the lower part. Matching serial number on the barrels, receiver and fore-end wood. Trigger guard and triggers with bluing. Kept in a wooden case of the period, but not matching, with antique green cloth lining. Worked leather case on the outside.
