Naples, Francesco Morello, 1764. In 4th. Half-title, brand engraved in wood on the title page, woodcut drop cap and tailpiece, water stains on the first issues, some woodworm holes that rarely touch the mirror of the text, hole in the upper white margin of the last 5 leaves, coeval binding in the middle parchment, defects. Rare treatise on the epidemic that struck Naples in 1764 and its lethal effects on the population, written by the famous scientist Celestino Cominale, author of Anti-newtonianismi pars prima in qua Newtoni de coloribus systema evertitur ( in which he questioned the Newtonian theory of colors). "The great epidemic of putrid fevers" caused about thirty thousand deaths in the Campania area and was eradicated thanks to the joint efforts of what can be considered one of the first international humanitarian missions, with the sending of grain supplies to Naples to slow down the advanced "fevers".
