Specialist Notes

First edition. The author in 1874 - 75 participated in the expedition commercial and scientific led by Sonovsky and Matoussovsky which, crossing Siberia, reached Lake Baikal and Mongolia. They were probably the first explorers to cross the entire Gobi desert and to open the route that touched Shanghai and Beijing before returning to Mongolia crossing the desert once again. This work is the only testimony of this enterprise.
