Venice, 1690. Copper engraving taken from "Corso Geografico Universale...". It measures 44 x 26 cm plus wide margin. The table is enclosed in a graduated frame. Published for the first time in the famous work Corso Geografico Universale of 1692, this beautiful map shows the Caribbean area in detail, from the extreme southern tip of Florida and the Bahama Channel to the Antilles and Trinidad. Includes the Caymans, the Virgin Islands and the small islands off the coast of Mexico. Highlighted at the top is Guanahani, the island discovered and visited by Columbus.
