Specialist Notes

Reproduction of the Landiano Codex 190, considered the oldest manuscript with a certain date, 1336, of the Divine Comedy, currently preserved at the Passerini-Landi Municipal Library of Piacenza. Together with the Comedy it also contains Dante's "Le dolce rime d'amore ch'io solia", some sonnets by Guittone d'Arezzo and some chapters written by Bosone da Gubbio and Iacopo Alighieri which provide a sort of synthesis of the work. The identity of the copyist, Antonio da Fermo, is deduced from the colophon and he states that the work was commissioned by Beccario Beccaria.
