An outstanding pair of miquelet lock pistols with silver mounts and gilded decorations, Late 18th - Early 19th Century

Round, smoothbore barrels, the rear part with rib featuring a fuller ending with a gilded lily at the nozzle. Breeches with floral carvings and engravings, partially gold-inlaid. 15.7 mm cal. at the nozzle. Pitting. The beautiful tangs of the barrels elongated up to the butt-plate and finely gold-inlaid with floral motifs. Beautiful morlach locks (one with mechanism to be unlocked) with elegant gold-inlaid racemes (well preserved, small missing parts) and signed in gold in Arabic characters on the lower side of the spring. Long wooden stocks, one in better condition, the other with small damaged parts and signs of time, the well-preserved one with remains of ebonized finishing. Sphere triggers en suite with the locks. Some bone-inlays still present, others are missing. Fine silver mounts, engraved with floral motifs and nielloed. One pistol missing a band and muzzle ring. Missing ramrods. High-quality pair of pistols that definitely deserves a proper restoration.
