Specialist Notes

Fascinating views of Tarvisio and Aquieia taken from the original Latin edition of the Chronicle, the most impressive and celebrated illustrated work of the 15th century, a sort of true encyclopedia of medieval layout elegantly enriched by woodcuts by Pleydenwrff and Wolgemuth. & nbsp ; The publisher (and printer) was Anton Kroberger, godfather of Albrecht Dürer, the 1809 wood engravings were prepared in the workshop of Michael Wolgemut (where Dürer was an apprentice from 1486 to 1489).
