Venice, Francesco Sansovino & amp; Co., 1560. In 4th. Initials and woodcut friezes, with numerous woodcut illustrations of plants and animals in the text, some glosses of ancient hand, guard card with manuscript title page data, light browning, rare halos, missing the first 4 cards including the title page, recto of the last paper with the letterpress mark mounted in the beginning (3A4 paper), reinforcements on the first papers, 3A1 partially detached, contemporary parchment binding, with handwritten title on the spine, some halo, small tear at the hinge.

Specialist Notes

First edition, printed in the opening year of Francesco Sansovino's printing house (Rome 1521 - Venice 1584). Writer and man of letters, son of the well-known and talented sculptor Jacopo, he was an extraordinary polygraph, very active author of literary prose, classical and historical texts, translations. Refined literary critic, he worked in the famous Venetian printing houses and later opened his own printing house in 1560 under the banner of La Luna Crescente. His works focus on various topics: from agriculture to medicine, from grammar to politics. All editions & nbsp; they had numerous reprints and were very successful in the publishing market
