Specialist Notes

The English naturalist Henry Baker (London, 1698 - 1774), dissatisfied with the compound lateral column microscopes in use in his time, suggested modifications and innovations including the screw focusing, the brass cone and a new range of lenses that were implemented and used by the manufacturer John Crufft.
