An eclectic author capable on the one hand of working in his professional studio even to take photo portraits for documents, and on the other of establishing himself in the world of art exhibitions, Mario Lasalandra is a true master of black and white. The atmospheres he alludes to always hover in a vaguely surreal dimension: he himself creates situations with the confidence of a film director. When he moves indoors, as in the case of 'Solo', the theatrical cut and the skilful use of natural light are evident, while he tends to animate exteriors with dreamlike presences ('Sisters') or situations such as that of 'The White Dog', which seem to be the result of a reportage-type shot but are instead carefully constructed following a precise script.
