Round, rifled barrel with octagonal breech (visible rifling, bore needs cleaning), provided with sight and clutch for the bayonet, with foldaway rear sight, remains of various marks including "C" and "B", the mark "A" (probably of pontifical acceptance) on the right side. Folding bolt. Backwards spring lock with marking of the imperial manufacture of Mutzig. Working mechanism. Full wooden stock with round stamp on the blade, Y 300 marking (pontifical acceptance?) and crowned "T". Iron mounts, butt-plate with dotted screw (another feature suggesting the papal use), remains of other marks. Missing ramrod. Rare.
