Round, rifled barrel with octagonal breech (some signs of use inside, bore mostly clean, clearly visible rifling), featuring various marks such as the typical papal numbers at the base, "E S" and "M" in circles, "T.1866" and "H" in a rhombus, provided with clutch for the bayonet and foresight. Tang with fixed rear sight and model inscription. Backward spring lock marked "M.re Imp.le de Chatellerault" and marked "M" under star and in a shield. Working mechanism. Three-quarter wooden stock with stamp on the right side of the butt stock which is not clearly visible but has well stamped marks on the left side such as the numbering (different from the barrel) and other crowned stamps, a few sins of use. Brass mounts with strongly visible marks. Butt-plate with marked screw and dot. Iron ramrod. Marked socket bayonet, length: 52.8 cm Probably purchased by the Papal States to equip their troops.
