Preliminary drawing made by Mattotti for his famous interpretation of Dante's Inferno published for the first time in the volume "La Divina Commedia - Inferno" by Nuages editions in 1999. Artwork published in the volume that collects the preparatory drawings of the first cantica "Guardando l'inferno" published by Nuages in 2021. << Mattotti dove into Comedy for what it is first and foremost: a book of adventures. He read it as one of his most inspired navigators, Jorge Luis Borges, asks us to read it: with abandonment and naivety, "with the faith of a child". It is with the faith of a child that Mattotti launched himself into Hell: recovering phantasmagoria lost in the dreamlike closets of childhood, favoring the nightmare against the symbol, unleashing the eye on the footsteps of ghosts, witches, vampires, Satanists >> (Jonny Costantino).
