Original illustration made by Loustal for the volume "Through the city", published by Tricromia Illustrator's Int. in 2007. Among the most successful authors in France, Loustal is characterized in the world of the ninth art and illustration taking inspiration from painting (David Hockney) and cinema (Wim Wenders). Thanks to the rediscovery of charcoal, Loustal has reduced the expression of this ancient instrument to a few tones of grey, drawing condominiums, abandoned factories, warehouses, inert but alive, to which charcoal restores density, weight and history. Silent cities, deposits of latent stories to imagine, worn silhouettes cut out of the urban context, metropolitan ghosts that take on body, thickness, volume. The charm of these buildings comes from the mystery of their past, from their solitude compared to the rest of the city and its inhabitants. Signed.
