Information
length 107 cm.
Heavy, octagonal, rifled barrel, engraved at the ends and around the rear sight with grotesque figures and floral motifs, the breech plate featuring a shield-shaped mark (not clearly legible) covered with brass featuring the monogram "CK" or "CR". The design of this mark is almost certainly a variant of one of the very similar marks used by two very important gunsmiths, namely Cornelius Klett and Christian Reich. The three flowers that form the lower part of the mark design differs only slightly from the two marks reproduced in Støckel, Cornelius Klett (Der Neue Støckel 7699) and Christian Reich (Der Neue Støckel 8123); this variation can reasonably be attributed to a substitution of the mark used by one of the gunsmiths. The left side of the barrel featuring a axe-shaped mark (Der Neue Støckel 6123), a mark also found on many other guns from Suhl. Engraved tang. Beautiful inner wheel lock with slightly rounded plate, finely engraved with a deer among floral motifs; the circle around the pivot is carved, engraved and pierced with two grotesque masks, the border in relief and decorated with a leaf; the button of the snap pan cover (carved and with sparkle arrester) worked with a sunflower. The cock carved, engraved and pierced with the body of a half-naked little mermaid admiring her face with a hand mirror; the upper jaw with a snake. With engraved and carved elements inside the plate, the tang with mark of the Suhl test bench (Der Neue Støckel 1734). Full stock made of fruitwood, the area under the barrel with deep groove on both sides and the base featuring spirals decorated with nails. The butt stock and part of the left side richly decorated with iron inlays; the cheeckpiece with oval plaque featuring a portrait of an officer in period dress; the lock screws covered with a flower. The patchbox lid decorated en suite. Smooth iron mounts with anatomical trigger guard and trigger provided with a set trigger. Iron-tipped wooden ramrod and iron base.
