Leipzig, 1725. In oblong folio. 5 parts in one volume. With 86 engraved plates, each with captions in German and French, scattered reddishness, browning on some leaves. Half leather binding with corners, title and decorations stamped in gold on the spine, some peeling.
A major work by the Austrian architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, with contributions by the Swedish antiquarian Carl Gustav Heraeus. The first three parts show imaginative reconstructions of monuments from classical antiquity, the Middle East, and the Orient. The fourth part is devoted to Fischer von Erlach's projects in Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague (e.g., the Karlskirche and Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna); and the fifth illustrates classical vases and sarcophagi.
