Bartolozzi depicting a family of North American natives and frontispiece with vignette, another frontispiece with vignette. The three geographical maps are missing, otherwise an excellent example in its original parchment binding.

Specialist Notes

Original edition of the Italian translation of this interesting study on the European discovery and colonization of the Americas. As indicated on the frontispiece, the work reports on the discoveries and conquests made in that part of the world, the customs and manners of the native peoples, an exact description of their respective settlements, their extension, climate, products and trade, and the nature and disposition of the inhabitants. The work is completed by an in-depth study of the trade of the various European states to and from their respective colonies. Rare.
