Figurative frontispiece with the names of the main architects and three medallion portraits (Gian Galeazzo Visconti, San Carlo Borromeo, Napoleon I), accurate history of the Milan Cathedral followed by the description of the plates, 64 beautiful architectural plates, 35 of which are double-page spreads, the engravings show maps, architectural details, external views, paintings, etc., slight marginal foxing, red chagrin binding with the figure of the Cathedral imprinted in gold on the plate, worn.
Specialist Notes
Second edition of 1871 of this important architectural work on the Milan Cathedral. Scholars and talented artists of the time collaborated on the work, conceived and promoted by Giuseppe Vallardi, including F. Zuccari, G. d'Adda, L. Cagnola, A. Nava and G. De Castro. The plates are distributed in such a way as to offer an adequate idea of the most grandiose and notable aspects of the Cathedral, as well as its smallest parts.
