A work of fundamental importance for the scrupulous collection of all the data necessary to frame the Apulian economy in the general economy of the Kingdom. De Dominicis, a pupil of Genovesi, spent 10 years dedicated to field investigation and the examination of original documents, possible thanks to his position as Auditor at the Customs of Foggia from 1768 1 to 1780. Even his contemporaries recognized the importance of research and the goodness of the suggestions for "combining pastoralism with agriculture".
