Specialist Notes

Rare edition, variously assigned to different printers in different cities, GW attributes it to Rome, Proctor to Rome or Naples. For IISTC it is instead decidedly Venetian.
The commentary on Giovenale, preceded by a letter of dedication to Giuliano de' Medici and by a Life of Giovenale, followed by notes against Fidentino (Angelo Sabino) and by the Defensio adversus Brotheum grammaticum, had its first edition, together with Juvenal's text, in Venice on 24 April. 1475 by Jacques Le Rouge, and was reprinted in Brescia, without text, on 15 September of the same year; this is probably the third edition.
