Folio, vignette depicting two putti holding the coat of arms of Prince Giovanni Domenico Milano-Franco of Aragon to whom the work is dedicated, pp. 42 nn.+ 986 columns with 9 tables, of which 2 dedicated to the "Tabula Canusina", engraved on f.t. copper. by Francesco Sesone: 1) Portrait of Giovanni Domenico Milano- Franco 2) Ager Nolanus cum adjacentibus Regionibus 3) Nola Vetus ac Praesens 4) Figura praesentis Urbis Nolae 5) Nola presens 6) Province of Terra d'Otranto delineated by Magini expanded by Rossi and now reduced to better perfection according to the present state 7) Tabula Aerea Canusina 8) Ancient Canusine coins and medals 9) Epigraphs of the Canusine tablet. Text in two columns. More intense browning on some papers, slight foxing. Folded map partially detached and with small tear without loss on the internal margin and the lower margin. Contemporary binding in full parchment, gold title on the spine.

Specialist Notes
A very rare original edition, in 1738 it was republished by the printers with the title "Rarissimorum scriptorum rerum Neapolitanarum collectio". Only known copy printed on heavy paper and complete with portrait and map of the Province of Terra d'Otranto. In 1974, the Bottega Apulia put up for sale in the catalog "Biblioteca Meridionalistica - Parte II - Numero 1622" an example, on normal paper, with the portrait but without the paper. History and topography of the Kingdom of Naples through the works of the major writers of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries: 1) Ambrogio Leone - de Agro Nolano. 2) Gabriele Barrio - from Antiquitate Calabria. 3) Francesco Grano - De Situ Calabriae. 4) Giovanni Giovene - De Varia Tarentinorum Fortuna. 5) Antonio Galateo - De Situ Japigiae. 6) Paolo Antonio Di Tarsia - Historiarum Cupersanensium. 7) Abbot Damadeno - Tabula Canusii. 8) Henz Brennemanus - De republica Amalfitana. Note among the tables the beautiful view of Nola and the large, elegantly draped plant of the Agro Nolano which extends up to the "Sinus Surrentinum".
