FIRST EDITION, BELONGED TO THE SCIENTIST AND VULCANOLOGIST SALVATORE CUCUZZA SILVESTRI (1923-2012) of this important illustrated treatise on the volcanic activity of Vesuvius written by Italian naturalist and philosopher Della Torre (1712-1782). The result of a twenty-year study in the field, which will be an example for many international scholars, the naturalist presents an analysis of the eruptive mechanics and of the expelled material, framing these activities in a broader perspective that outlines the history of the volcano.
