Specialist Notes

Original edition of this important volcanology treatise. The work was fundamental, not only for the precious collection and criticism of the sources, but because it explicitly set the objective of the history of a volcano not as a succession of external phenomena, but as the process of its making through those phenomena.< br>
These are the subjects of the 8 plates: 1- View of Vesuvius from Naples, 2-View of the Vesuvius from the third part of Bosco Tre Case called the Nunziatella, 3- View of Vesuvius - called L'Oratorio, 4- View of Vesuvius from a stone called Pietra Rossa, 5- View of the atrium of the Horse, and of Vesuvius , 6- Vorgine 7- View of the interior level of Vesuvius, 8- Grottone in the form of a round temple.
