In the modern era we are witnessing a veritable explosion of texts entitled Giardino or in Latin Hortus; many of them are presented as anthologies where, behind the image of a garden enriched by all kinds of flowers and trees, maxims drawn from the Holy Scriptures, from the tradition of the Fathers are collected, as well as spiritual and moral sentences, short treatises of devotion or collections of prayers, although under the same title it is also possible to find real treatises on spirituality. Like the Zardino de oration fructuoso (first edition Venice 1494) attributed to Nicolò da Osimo, printed several times between the two centuries and which is proposed as a manual to guide the paths of prayer .
