London, R. Bentley, 1852. In 8th.  With 20 lithographic plates drawn in sepia and 2 maps, sporadic foxings, coeval binding in blue morocco, on the front plate the royal coat of arms of England surmounted by a crown and a scroll with the inscription "Collegium Reginae Victoriae Caesariense", author and title embossed in gold within a red label on the richly decorated spine, gilt edges, some scratches, minor defects. Traces of paper ex-libris on the back cover.

Specialist Notes

Original edition of the report of the Calabrian and Lucan journey made in 1847 by the author Edward Lear (1812-1888). Abbey, Travel 175, Brunet III, 897, PineCoffin 847.
