Specialist Notes

Rare first edition of this work, highly regarded and appreciated by the French physiocrats of the 1700s. China has always been a landmark and an object of study for 18th-century reformers: this book, which deals at length with the origin and organization of Chinese agriculture, is an excellent exposition of physiocratic theories. It also talks about the economy in general, the population and trade in China and Russia. INED 2727; Conlon 69,966; Lust 1275; not in Kress, Goldsmiths, Einaudi, Higgs.
