Specialist Notes

Second edition of this version of Galen, the first to present the work & nbsp; according to the new humanistic dictates distinguishing the text from the critical passages and from translations and trying to highlight Galen's work from what could only be attributed to him. The text was presented in a manner consistent with medical criteria. Among Galen's commentators and reviewers were Andrea Vesalius and Agostino Gadaldini. In the text almost all the illustrations are in the seventh class connected to Hippocrates' treatise on fractures, that of Galen on the fasciae and others. These treatises came to us through the work & nbsp; by Niceta which was translated and commented on by Guido Guidi and many of the illustrations reproduce those of this work . Durling Galen A11; NLM / Durling 1754; Osler 354 (only 2 parts); Wellcome 2516 (only 4 parts); Norman 853; Olschki no 9902
