Portrait of the author engraved on copper in the front door, brand with motto on the title page, headbands, initials and woodcut figured ends, large margins, some flowering, slight damp halo on the first cards, some slightly loose files, coeval hardcover binding, manuscript title to the back, some tears to the back, defects.
Specialist Notes
The Cultivation of the Alamanni, in six books of loose hendecasyllables, was his best known work, it is considered a model of classicist elegance and decoration for the writers of the 1700s. This edition, beautiful and accurate, is printed on hard paper and embellished by the beautiful chalcographic portrait of the author and by the graceful decorations in woodcut.
