Specialist Notes

First edition. James Pattison Cockburn & nbsp; (1779 - 1847), coming from a family with a long military tradition, in 1793 he enrolled at the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich, where he became passionate about drawing thanks to the teachings of the painter, expert landscape architect, Paul Sandby. Between 1816 and 1822 he traveled to discover the Alps along the Italian-Swiss border, drawing the wonderful sceneries that open up before him, the disarming beauty of the mountains.
