Il trattato De arte gymnastica, scritto nel 1569 dal medico forlivese Girolamo Mercuriale, fu il testo che sancì la nascita della medicina sportiva, rivalutando il ruolo di tale disciplina in campo medico e terapeutico. A corredare il testo le xilografie incise in legno da Cristoforo Coriolani, su disegno di Pirro Ligorio, raffiguranti movimenti della lotta greco-romana. Camerini II, 1067.
