Cylindrical, 7-1/2", 44 cal. barrel (pitting and scaling inside, visible rifling) with octagonal base, with low German silver foresight, marked "ADDRESS SAM.L COLT NEW YORK CITY" in curly brackets, the inscription is oriented towards the breech. Smooth, six-shot cylinder with rectangular notches, remains of engraving depicting a fight between Texas Rangers and Indians (not clearly legible) and the cartouches almost completely faded, the serial number is no longer legible. Working mechanism. Frame marked "COLTS PATENT" and "U.S." with serial number "10xxx". Central pin of the cylinder with serial number matching the frame. Brass lower band and squared trigger guard with serial number matching the frame. Brass back band with matching serial number (probably re-stamped) under the grip. Barrel with serial number matching the frame. The cartridge rammer and the barrel wedge also with matching serial numbers (possibly re-stamped). Various areas of pitting. Smooth walnut grip without stamps.
