Round, rifled, 52 cal. barrel with remains of the marking "SHARPS RIFLE MANUFG CO HARTFORD CONN." and "NEW MODEL 1863" on the back, provided with foresight and with adjustable rear sight, the base marked "Lawrence patent". Bore with visible rifling, light pitting inside, especially at the nozzle. Browning probably refreshed. Frame with breech-loading mechanism, falling-block bolt with trigger guard serving as release lever. Working. Marked with Sharp's patent of 1852 and Lawrence of 1859 on the right side, and with Sharp's patent of 1848 on the left side. Walnut butt and fore-end, the former with remains of two stamps under the sling swivel guide, the latter with a small missing part at the tip. Iron mounts. The plate of the sling swivel guide with mark "A K". Model provided with patchbox featuring iron cover.
