Specialist Notes

Rare original edition, with the fictitious indication of the print run «11th thousand». Zang Tumb Tuuum is the first free-word book and is considered by many to be the first artist's book tout court of the 20th century. The cover graphics and the graphic innovations in the text that made it famous are by the typographer Cesare Cavanna. See Cammarota, Marinetti 47: «Rare»; Gambetti-Vezzosi 515: «One of Marinetti's most sought-after texts»; Hulten, Futurism and Futurisms 516; Mughini 2008, 159; Salaris 47a.
