Florence, by opera & expense of Philippo di Giunta, Florentine, 1506 to the 20th of August. In 8th. Full page woodcut illustration depicting Dante in the infernal vestibule with the three wild beasts and 7 almost full page woodcut engravings depicting plants and cross-sections of Dante's Inferno, PERFECT copy, modern binding modeled on the Renaissance leather ones and gold decorations, red spray cuts, made in Modena by Dante Gozzi as can be read in a note on the flyleaf signed by Giuseppe Martini. In addition to Martini's usual pencil notes, the specimen features the old flyleaves originating from the Cabassi, Nicola and Orazio family (1756).

Rare and sought after edition, which contains on cards H1r-H2r the "Praefatione di Hyeronimo Benivieni in elsequente [sic] Dialogue by Antonio Manetti to Benedetto his brother" and on cards H2v-P3v the first edition of the "Dialogue by Antonio Manetti, a Florentine citizen, about the site, form, and measurements of the Inferno by Dante Alighieri, a very excellent poet". Online Dante Encyclopedia: "A passionate Dantologist, [Manetti] deserves the credit of having founded the studies of Dante cosmography, as we can recognize through the testimonies of Cristoforo Landino and Girolamo Benivieni".
