Paris, Defer de Maisonneuve, 1793. Large 4th. Front door with the portrait of the author executed au pointillé and 5 full page plates executed on the drawings of Monsiau and engraved au pointillé and imprinted in color by Colibert, Casenave and Clement, scattered reddening, coeval binding in brown marbled calfskin, gold-embossed decoration, plates framed by wheels and fillets, on the smooth back double gusset in red leather with author and title in gold, golden cuts, marbled looks, some scratches and peeling, slight lacks in the back.

Specialist Notes

Specimen with wide margins with the plates in the first state before numbering, in vintage binding of this classic of French typography of the century. XVIII. The style of Nicolas-André Monsiau (1754-1837), and its coloring in the manner of Poussin & nbsp; marked his conservative art during Neo-Classicism. Brunet II, 1568; Cohen-de Ricci 436: "Les planches, culoz belles, sont toujours imprimees en couleur".
