Specialist Notes

Interesting set of 16 engravings by Domenico Cagnoni that include many portraits of characters of the time, nobles, writers, ecclesiastics, tables with allegorical and mythological subjects. Cagnoni, born in Verona in 1734, came to Milan in 1770. The occasion was given to him by Pietro Verri to illustrate the "De veterum disciplinica in re rustica" by theologian Adriano Kembter. By decree of October 5, 1770, Maria Teresa "granted him the grace to call him in the city of Milan and decorate him with the honorable title of Royal Engraver". & Nbsp;
