Specialist Notes
Pieter van der Aa (1659-1733) was a prolific publisher in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. His production was not limited only to atlases: he also produced topographical and illustrated works, including the spectacular twenty-eight volume Naaukeurige versameling der gedenkwaardigste See-en Land-Reysen. While other atlases undoubtedly have a more cartographic meaning, the & nbsp; Nouveau & nbsp ; theater & nbsp; by Aa, is an impressive and very attractive work. & nbsp;
