The friendship that bound him to Luigi Ghirri is also evident in the in some ways similar style that characterised Giovanni Chiaramonte, starting with the need to confront the landscape using colour as a language. However, if Ghirri moved in a direction that alternated irony and conceptual vision, Chiaramonte chose to investigate the dimension of the sacred that he brings out even in landscapes that only evoke it. The sense of depth thus becomes not only a stylistic choice but above all a metaphorical appeal.
