Specialist Notes
The 124 Abarth Rally marks Abarth's entry into the Fiat group: based on the mechanics of the 124 Sport Spider, it represents a special high-performance version, created with the aim of obtaining homologation for racing. The Abarth Rally was available from November 1972 after being presented in prototype form at the Geneva Motor Show of the same year. Approximately 1000 examples were built, all with a 1756cc twin-cam engine that developed 128 hp. Our car, chassis no. 124CSA0078923, appears to have been registered as a road car in Novara on 17 April 1975. We know little about the life of the car before its transformation into Group 4 made by University Motors. The car participated in the 2015 Costa Brava Rally, driven by champion Maurizio Verini, and in the Motecarlo Historique Rally. Starting from a body to be rebuilt, the complete preparation includes:-front clutches gearbox-Torsen self-locking and adjustable dampers-safety tank, double petrol pump and extinguishing system.The car was the subject of an article in "Auto" magazine in the July 2019 issue.
