length 96 cm
Round, rifled barrel (bore to be cleaned, clearly visible rifling), 18 mm cal. at the nozzle, provided with foresight, club guide for the bayonet, foldaway and adjustable rear sight, remains of marks such as "C de 17 6", a cancelled number followed by the number "65""L" French stamps and date "1829". Tang with model inscription. Lock converted to percussion, stamped and marked "M.re R.le de Tulle". Wooden half stock with remains of a double stamp (both from St. Etienne, one dated 1862) on the right side of the butt stock followed by the marking "ST. ETIENNE", on the left side of the butt stock number cancelled (also on the barrel) and replaced by "65", remains of other marks. Brass mounts, with marks. Iron ramrod numbered "65". Brass butt-plate marked "4.A" and screw with dot. Interesting. The replaced serial numbers and the dotted screw indicate a later use in the Papal troops. See the articles "I Mazzocchi e l'Armeria Pontificia" and "Belle da Abbordare" by Carlo de Vita and Alfredo Bartocci respectively, published on Diana Armi.
