Conditions of Sale
In the early days of cinema, parallel to the professions most closely related to film production proper, another, also fundamental, arose: the poster designer. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, advertising communication passed exclusively through posters, which therefore had to be of great communicative effectiveness and immediate visual impact. From theater to cinema, the step was a natural one for many illustrators, and alongside anonymous masters, great artists also tried their hand at this genre. The evolution was then to turn poster authors into true artists, recognized for their talent in transforming a simple promotional communication into an iconic image that could be reproduced indefinitely.
Finarte and Urania, combining their experience and visibility, organize auctions featuring works by leading “movie painters” such as Anselmo Ballester, Drew Struzan, Renato Casaro, Bruno Napoli, Angelo Cesselon and many others. Whether Italian or Hollywood, film posters are works of art in their own right, and their original sketches even more so, since they are evidence of an artistic process made up of study, rehearsals, different combinations and often dialogue with directors and production companies.
