Made of nade-maru-gata iron, sukashi depicting two leaves one of gingko, one of oak and a tuft of pine needles, the sukashi is very precise, the details of the leaves in fine engravings with light gold nunumè at the edges. Sekigane. Late Edo period, early 19th century. For the Japanese, the gingko represents longevity, the oak represents endurance and the pine represents the essence used for New Year's decorations, thus it is a gift of good luck. The Kinai school, part of the Ishikawa family, was founded in the province of Echizen in 1600 and continued for five generations. Plant motifs have always been among the most widely used.
