Forehead protection consisting of four strong iron bands riveted together at the edges, in rough brown patina. Provided with a small, iron mabizashi at the lower parti fixed with rivets. Remains of a beautiful circular mon in gold leaf (Mochi or Hinomaru) at the centre. Complete with remains of the earlier fabric rim and its laces (with strong signs of use and time). Text on p. 116 and photo, the depicted item has fewer blades than the one presented in our auction and an identical mabizashi; also complete with nanban kusari (Western-style knitted cap).
