Made of maru-gata iron, with weaved engravings, the namako sukashi consists of two large bean-shaped hitsu-ana. Sekigane. This type of tsuba was very common from 18th century onwards, as it was also used by Miyamoto Musashi's school to modify the balance of the sword. The motif of the engraving is inspired by the Umetada school. Late Edo period, circa 1850. Provenance: Christie's sale, London, 15/06/1998.
