Made of nade-maru-gata iron, yo-sukashi, details carved in the round depicting finely-worked figures, details highlighted in gold. The scene is a classic one of the Chinese painting, the school favourite subject, depicting the seven sages meditating in the bamboo grove. Sekigane. Late Edo period, late 18th century. The school founded by Soten was created in Goshu, Omi province, in 1600 and continued for two centuries, more than one artist used the same signature, the one presented in this lot should be the one of Soten II from the late 18th century.
